WHAMYA has had a very good month. Attendance was up at the March
meeting and many new items were added to the year.
Our can drive was very successful raising $239.26. Clair Matthews
was the top collector for our 11 & Under members and Sarah Bross set
the bar very high for the 17 & Under crew.
We will be making blankets at our March 16th meeting
for Project Linus. The Livingston county organization donates blankets
to nursing homes, safe houses and others in need.
We are looking for a volunteer to chair the stall decorating
contest at the Spring Fling. This can be done from any location within
the state. All you need is use of a computer and availability at the
show. I worked on this the past two years and would be happy to help
anyone that wishes to take it on.
The riding incentive program has been updated for 2008, it’s now
easier than ever. This is a free program open to any youth. You don’t
need to own a horse, just enjoy riding.
We are planning a tack sale at the Little
Celebration (details to follow) and a Yankee Candle fundraiser for the
fall.
TWHBEA partnered with the National Parks and WHAMYA will be
taking part in the 06/07/08 National Park Youth Trail Ride Day. The
ride will be taking place at the Sleeping Bear Dunes National
Lakeshore. Youth riders from all 50 states will take part in the
largest youth national trail ride in history. Don’t miss your
opportunity to be a part of this exciting history making event.
NWHA has some new projects for 2008 also. There is a youth
leadership conference from July 14 – 16 at the Kentucky Horse Park.
There will be two get togethers at the Nationals and a Regional King
and Queen contest. They are offering a 4-H program and a high mile
youth rider award. Check their website or contact Denise Csatari for
further information.
Please contact Suzy Wyckoff or any WHAMYA officer if you have any
questions, concerns, ideas or just need information. We would love to
hear from you!
